R&D Engineer in Energy Systems

YOUR ROLE TO PLAY
You will be part of a passionate team of experts, who are shaping the future of maritime vessels by designing and optimizing maritime energy systems, covering ship propulsion, electrical generation and conversion, and thermal energy systems (steam, cooling loops, heat recovery, etc.).
You will contribute to the development of advanced simulation models for ship energy systems, supporting innovative vessel designs involving alternative fuels, hybrid propulsion, and integrated energy management.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Develop and maintain multi-physics models of ship energy systems
Simulate and evaluate alternative propulsion architectures (hybrid systems, fuel cells, batteries, alternative fuels)
Support ship design projects through energy system modelling and performance assessment
Contribute to R&D projects and innovation studies
Participate in proposal preparation and technical reports
Collaborate with industrial partners and research institutes.
YOUR PROFILE
YOUR DIPLOMA
PhD in Energy Engineering, with a thesis focused on maritime applications, or
PhD in Naval Architecture, with a thesis focused on multi-physics simulations and energy systems, or
MSc in Naval Architecture or Energy Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in maritime multi-physics simulations.
YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Experience in maritime R&D projects, proven track record of deliverables
Experience with multi-physics simulation tools such as Dymola or SimulationX
Experience in managing or contributing to technical projects from concept to delivery
YOUR SKILLS
Scientific Research Approach
Understanding of energy conversion systems (thermodynamics, electrical, and mechanical) and process engineering
Ability to develop and validate system-level simulation models
Ability to translate engineering requirements into simulation models
Experience in project documentation, technical reporting, and presentation
Programming skills in Python for modelling, data analysis and optimization
Ability to develop and interpret P&ID diagrams and process schematics
